I suspect your 256mb ram is the issue here. Jigsaw Detective game uses over 100mb ram and your WinXP takes atleast 110mb at bootup.

Make sure you dont have anything else running in the background. (browsers / file sharing apps).
Nothing spoils a good story like the arrival of an eyewitness.

it says it version 4.3

I hate to say it but I do not like the new 4.3 at all.I still use the 4.0 on medium speed medium difficulty and have finished all the puzzles from the 1st 1 to Aprils in less than 2 weeks on 2 seperate accounts aka double the puzzles.

I know they always say delete your old version before downloading the new,but in the now 3 cases where I did not do that I have been glad I didn't because the old version worked better than the new.

Just my take on this one

Ok, I am gonna shed some new light on this unability to use Jigsaw 4.3. My friend had Yahoo! Toolbar installed on his computer for I.E. 6.0, now he didn't think anything of this until all the Pogo games were running slower for some reason. So, he then uninstalled it and everything that was slow before INCLUDING JigsawDetector 4.3 worked flawlessly, on Insane speed, I.E. 6.0 even with 256 MB of RAM, so if anyone is having issues with this, I would recommend seeing if the Yahoo! Toolbar is the problem, and if its not, you can always reinstall it.  O0

I really don't think that is the problem for some of us.  I used the older one too and it worked great - now tried this new one and it flips out - highlights everything, makes the game area shrink to half its size and just causes lots of trouble..  I am using the same computer I used with the other version - so don't know what could be the problem

Pent. 4 2.66
Wind. XP
512 mb
128 mb GeForce
edges off
tried with VM and/or Java
AOL and tried with IE

wish I had downloaded the other one, but since we have a whole month to do them- np - I do one square a day.  lol

Ugh, I am one of those with 256mb and it makes a difference on how Jigsaw Detector works, if I want to run the latest version, I have to all but turn my computer into a skeleton to run it.  Too much hassle, so I'm patiently awaiting my new memory to get here.  In the meantime, I still use Jigsaw Dectector Version 1 on Fast and it does a wonderful job for me.  I know, I've tried all the possibilities with all the versions...they all work but V1 is the only one that will solve in under 4 minutes for me and it only works that good on Firefox.  Probably because it uses less resources than IE, at least with me.

My only problem with jigsaw detector 4.3 is it will put the pieces in four piles and then start putting the outside of the puzzle together.  After it has put about four or five pieces of the puzzle together, it keeps trying to grab the same piece of puzzle over and over and over again.  It never uses pieces from the other three piles.  It starts off on the right track and after a few pieces put together it's over.  If I can get this one lil problem fixed I will be good to go.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Here is my computer info:
Windows XP
640 RAM
smooth edges unchecked
800x600 screen resolution I have tried 1024x768 and still didn't work.
