LOS ANGELES (AP) - Dennis Weaver, the slow-witted deputy Chester Goode in the TV classic western ``Gunsmoke'' and the New Mexico deputy solving New York crime in ``McCloud,'' has died. The actor was 81.

Weaver died of complications from cancer on Feb. 24 at his home in Ridgway, in southwestern Colorado, his long time publicist and close family friend Julian Myers said.

I hate to say it but all the actors and actresses we've grown up enjoying and being entertained by are departing us each and every week. The current generation of kids (and I say this in the best way possible) won't have the same kind of attachment we have on these entertaining people. They will be more upset with things like x-Box being phazed out or their favorite reality TV show being cancelled then real actors actually acting! RIP Dennis Weaver & Don Knotts, you two are in a much better place entertaining the masses who know what was worth watching!
