We are overrun by plastics!

I have to say, since my state banned single use plastics, I don't see bags rolling around parking lots or getting caught in trees!  I guess we have to start somewhere.

True! As I'm sure I have mentioned before, we have a very aggressive recycling program in this area. Food waste / garbage / recycling all have to be in separate bins each week or it doesn't get picked up. It's more work than you'd expect, but it's worth it.

I'm ashamed to say that my area is not as good as yours.  We need to implement food waste recycling into compost and simply don't.  We do cans, bottle, plastics, paper.  Of course, motor oil gets recycled, too.  

When I look at pictures of the plastic mats the size of Texas out in the Pacific, I could cry.  We really do need to work plastic out of our lives almost entirely.  It's choking the planet and killing the wildlife.  

I read a medical article that stated that every single human being on earth (probaby animals, too) has microplastics in their bloodstreams that can never be removed.  Yuck.

I know so many people who carry those cards, which imo is silly.  There are so few times when you need it, it is not worth risking losing it.  Also, it gets worn!
