ID ten T error

I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Rick the computer guy, to come over.
Rick clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.
He gave me a bill for a minimum service call.
As he was walking away, I called after him,
"So, what was wrong?"
He replied, "It was an ID ten T error."
I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired:
"An ID ten T error?
What's that ... in case I need to fix it again?"
The computer guy grinned....
"Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?"
"No," I replied.
"Write it down," he said, "and I think you'll figure it out."
So I wrote out ...... I D 1 0 T

When I had my 1st job, our IT department had guys who liked to have a good time. Whenever someone needed help, they would draw sticks to see who would handle it. I never once needed their help for little things but for the big stuff, I would turn to them. Anyway, they have used the ID10T line many of times for our helpless staff and none of them seem to get it. I saw them even write it down and say "next time you have this problem, give us this code so we know what's happening" and they gave this code out. Each time someone mentions ID10T, I can't help but laugh...

...ahhhhhhh the memories.
