i just wanted to get ur opinion of something that happend to me and my husband this weekend.

we went to atlantic city and to make a long story short.. we were getting ready to leave when we thought we would go into one more casino and was approached by two employee's saying that they have some comps they want to share with us.  we were told that just for giving our opinion on a brand new resort that was just built we would get $75.00 and a free 3day 2 night trip on this resort.  we thought that since it was comming for a casino that it was ok.  they told us that there was not going to be any type of pressure sales that it was strickly for our opinion.

ok so we went and we were taken back and talked to about our family life and how many times we take vacation and so on for about an hour.  next 3 hours were H-E-L-L.

first my credit card and license were taken from my book when i opened it up to give the woman the voucher we got from the casino.  they said they needed it to verify my bank account and my identity.  while the lady was telling me that the other one was asking me and my husband questions and i was getting confused as i normally do.  we were asked which package then was attractive to us and me answering her question i said package C.    i'm trying to make this short cuz it's a long story.
it was 25.000 dollars for time share.  she's going on about how much they need down and i'm trying to tell the lady that we dont' have that and we aren't interested , we were then "ganged" up apon by these two women who had my license and my credit card.  i come to find out that they charged my credit card $300.00 per my permission (i never gave my permission but they insist i did) for part of the down payment. i insisted that they void that transaction. that money was for our 4 hour ride home.  the one lady then began to harrass me as to why i needed 300.00 dollars to go home, and that their 75 dollars should get us home.  i was crying and told my husband that we were screwed in like a lightbulb persay.  they wouldn't give my cards back to me they were making excuses for why they needed to keep them all the time they are saying that they are doing everything possible for us to get into this timeshare. i said that we needed time to think and they were very insistant that we make our descision right NOW!!!  to make a longer story shorter.. i ended up buying $20,000 worth of time share that i can't afford and was then congratulated by the reps while i'm in tears and not from joy, was told that now i have a mortgage.  then they gave me my cards back.
i cried and cried and we were able to get home.  we sent in a letter since my husband saw that we have 7days to cancel.
i can't eat.. i can't sleep.. i'm physically sick to my stomache, i can't think,, concentrate... i'm seriously messed up.. i'm scared to death.

i have never been in that position before.. we felt really trapped.

more has happened in the "meeting" but it's too long to get into

Ahhhhhh.......you got trapped by the old timeshare scam. These people are relentless.

I would have called 911 and then my CC company and told them what they did.

I don't understand why you would agree to paying them $20,000

I would have told them to get bent.

BTW, that 7 days to cancel clause. Don't expect them to sign for any correspondence from you. They won't sign for any Certified Mail etc thus letting the 7 days lapse.

You should have walked out and promptly called the police.

Myself, I have other ways of dealing with these people that I don't recommend to anyone.

Omg how horrible...You call your credit card company and cancel that payment and you cancel that agreement...I feel so sorry for you...The sales people for those timeshare things will drive you nuts...my sister and her hubby whom have way more money than I have ever have...do that crap all the time...just for the free trip...I can't handle the pressure from the people it drives me nuts..I'm the  NO means NO kinda person, it doesn't mean maybe or anything else...Sounds like you were put under pressure...I know you can cancel your payment on your credit card by filing a dispute...they will credit your card back...I hope you get this worked out and I am sure you will...gl to you and your hubby

Sorry to get you worked up but it's probably best you heard it now. Maybe you can contact a lawyer and see what your best course of action may be.

You might have to take these people to court and sue them. You will need to prove that you were forced to sign the papers under duress.

I would definitely talk to a lawyer.

Find an attorney, NOW.  Write down everything you and your husband remember so you can tell the attorney.  Next, call the local media in Atlantic City. Newspapers, Television, Radio, everyone.  Don't stop till you get someone that's interested. It's amazing what the media can do.

I see what Homer is saying now...They aren't going to answer anything during the 7 day grace period...I agree with Homer then get a attorney...but I would still call my credit card company also.

i called my bank this morning and turned off my card.  we sent the letters registered mail and certified mail.  i just got off the phone with my husband and told him what u said homer and he said that we have proof that we mailed the letter.. will that be good. we are still going to contact an attorney.  yes everything was under duress... i'm worried sick... i can't stop crying now.. i'm sorry.

i'm going to my room.  to flop on my bed like a big baby and cry my eyes out.

Tara

I know I would freaking out just like you...but just remember whats happened has happened and being upset isn't going to help one way or another...try to stay calm...it will all work out and you will learn a lesson from it and things will be ok again...Keep your head up!

Yeah, I would absolutely call the credit card company and cancel all charges.  Tell them you DID NOTauthorize it.  Don't ever ever ever say you agreed to anything.

Additionally, you could maybe sue for punitive damages.  This sounds like sheer harassment (not to mention a whole host of other possilbe illegalities) to me.  Maybe you could MAKE some money for your pain and suffering.  At the very least, get your money back and maybe a free stay at the time share.

Rat bass turd sons of beyotches.  This kinda thing REALLY burns me up.  I would have gone to jail for assault.

PM if you need an attorney referal,Froggie.  A colleague of mine is a member of the Jersey Bar.

I wouldn't be surprised if the address they gave is a fictitious one.

telling them to get bent would have been the nicest thing to come out of my mouth.....after that I don't recommend you deal with them the way I have before either

we weren't able to walk out... they had my license and credit cards and when i asked for them back.. they made excuses as to why they needed them and at the same time the other lady was talking and i was getting confused.. like i said.,i've never been put in that position before and believe me we wanted to walk out.. then there was papers shoved infront of us.

one of you could have walked out and called the police and told them they stole your ID and credit cards.  To me they did even though they may have said you gave them to them.  However they wouldn't give the license and credit cards back when you asked for it so thats stealing to me in a sense

lostinpogoland

call the attorney general and tell them what happened. they will check into it chances are there are other complains

nanners

OH froggie..I fee so bad for you..We got into a 'similar' situation in Hawaii.but we got up walked away and told them in no uncertain"words" what we thought.
I pray that you get it all straightened out soon..heres a ((((HUG))) if that helps
