The programmers at BadgeHelp are great, but sometimes bugs crawl into their programs and lay eggs.  :-[    This can leave you feeling frustrated and angry. >:(    Never fear!  There ARE things you can do to help the situation become better. :)

Send an email to BadgeHelp, letting them know about the problem.  The email address is badgehelp@aol.com.  Basically, they can't help you if they aren't informed.  The more information you include and the more specific you are the better.  I'm sure you've seen all the requests for computer specs all over the forum.  That's what they need.  Just in case you haven't seen it before and need to know what you should include here it is:

1.) Operating system (Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP etc)?
2.) Browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL, Mozilla, Opera etc)?
3.) Color setting (24 bit, 32 bit etc)?
     4.) Screen resolution (800x600, 1024x768)?
5.) Smooth edges of screen fonts checked or unchecked?
6.) What Java you are using?
7.) What agent are you using?
8.) What version number is this agent?
9.) What specifically is the problem?

Another thing that is very helpful is a screen shot.  If your agent has gone crazy or is just plain lazy, just take a screen shot of the problem and zip it off to BadgeHelp.

How do you do a screen shot?  I'm glad you asked.  A screen shot is just a picture of your screen.  There are a number of screen capture wizards out there that you can download, but the easiest thing to do is:  On your keyboard, hold down the "Ctrl" button and press the "Prt Scr" button.  That takes a picture of your screen and saves it to your clipboard.  Next, open up one of your graphics editors such as Paint.  Then, just paste it in ("Paste" is usually one of the options under "Edit").  Save this image as a bitmap (.bmp), somewhere that you will remember, and attach that image to your email that you send to BadgeHelp.

It's really not hard and it doesn't take a long time.  Once the programmers receive this information, they can either help you through a change of your settings to make your agent run better or make an update to the program to repair a bug.  Either way, they make your agent work again.

And then we all live happily ever after.    :)

Since this is the first time I have seen the name "MiraStarr", could someone please let me know who she is and when did she become a Developer?  I do not want to sound like I am being noisy, but if you think I am them please disregard my question.

Mayhem

She is not an admin. She is a developer (a programmer that works for badgehelp)  O0

Are you talking to me Mayhem?  I know what Java I am using, so I am a little confused??

Mayhem

Sorry, I was just adding to what MiraStarr and John was saying at the top of this post.

OK, I am sorry that I did not understand what you were trying to tell me and I did not know it was a continuation of the previous posts.  I did go to the site though and it told me what Java I was using.  The website is really neat. O0

Mayhem

Yeah .. hopefully it will provide the information that the programmers need  :)

Mira, thanks for the info.  A big welcome to the forum & BadgeHelp!  Looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future.   O0

I'm sorry.  I should have introduced myself.  I am Miranda Starr.  You can call me Mira.  I am a graphic artist who occasionally works as a guinea pig.  I get to test these wonderful agents before they are released to the public.  So, usually, if there's a problem with one, it's my fault.  Once in a while, I write a program or two.  That's how I can be such a know-it-all when it comes to these programs.

Thank you, to those of you who have tried FlightAttendant.  She's there to help you guys have a nice flight.  Thanks also for the big welcomes.

***NEWS FLASH***  Joshua is working on an Agent Troubleshooter.  This is a program that we will send to you when you need it (once it's finished, of course).  It will be able to read the computer settings that are important to the agent and take a screenshot.  It will then, save that file for you in your BadgeHelp folder so you can email it to us.  No more looking up settings or trying to figure out how to take a screenshot!

Sounds like "Huzzah's" are in order.   O0

The word agent has been popping up somewhat frequently around the forum lately.  Some people don't exactly understand what that means.  Don't feel too bad (I didn't understand at first either.  Shhh.  Don't tell anyone.)  The definition of an agent is " An individual or entity that acts on behalf of and is subject to the control of another party."  In this case, the entity is the auto/program/software/cheat/helper that plays the game on your behalf.

A program to automatically detect our computer settings------WAY TO GO MIRA!!!

I am one of those computer illerate people that have no idea where some of the requested setting information resides.  Therefore, if I have a faulty program, I just can't play it.

This new feature will be very much welcome.....A big "Thank You"!!
