Hmmmmm.....there is a heading in Technical Issues that covers Vista issues and perhaps it should be bright red with drips of blood on it and instead of starting with Badgehelp. It should be VISTA bloody VISTA issues...... can you tell I am not a fan of Vista? But I really believe that no one reads beyond the very first word in a title. Especially men. That is why all dirty books were normally one word and usually only a few syllables.

Aw Disney Vista is not that bad. I havent had any problems. I still have Xp running on one computer and nobody wants to use it. Vista takes some time and you have to let go of alot of old computer knowledge and learn some new. But Vista runs great.  But when I configured new computer I maxed the memory and went high dollar on graphics.  It makes a difference

Harley, since you have Vista and seem fairly comfortable with it, maybe you can tell me where to find Badge Babes suggestion of changing the Java cache to unlimited?  I want to try it, but have no idea where to start.

harley89

You cant change it to unlimited but you can clear the cache. Go to settings and click the java icon  on the general header temporary internet files click settings you can clear the cache which will help I hace tried several things trying to raise the chache size but havent benn able to but clearing the cache will help

Homer

Java cache size can be increased by going to

Control Panel
Java

When the Java console opens go to the cache tab and click unlimited then click apply and close the console.

Magzy

but i do have a cache tab...only general, updates, java, security and advanced...no cache under any of them? :ooo

Magzy

clearly confused....do NOT have a cache tab...{correcting previous post thx}

Homer

It looks like the latest versions do not have the same control panel as my old version. Doesn't look like you can change java cache size in the latest version.

I have a very small computer for Pogo and a large one inches away at home for my work - there is a nice mention of some tweaks of the java cache bloat in this link:

I wasn't the one with probs with autos. Not sure where you read that. I have anger issues with Vista - and have always had them. I was one of the beta testers for XP and was sure they would have handicapped beta testers for Vista and when I asked I was told that they were not going to have ANY handicapped in their beta for Vista. And I saw why when I got Vista - it takes 3 times as many clicks for functions. I used to build computers back in the early 80s but those days are long gone and my fortran and dos days are useless. I know enough to know who to email when I need help on mine and save my fingers and I know how to get into Vista to get to Windows apps and remove what does not need to be running. I just do not like Vista - it is a resource hog and prob why they hid their best feature in Vista - the Resource Monitor - would have made sense to put it in the Control Panel but they didn't - it is well hidden instead.
