I've followed every step for Vista in getting Turbo21 to run. Everytime I download the cheat and run it, I keep getting the same popup window that says " Unable to create directory" above that in the blue bar it's label name is "Smmzmuayg".

This has only happend since upgrade to Vista from XP service pack 2.

I hope someone will be able to help.

Thanks

I had a problem downloading and installing the autos too, on Vista.  I discovered that the BadgeHelp Folder had been changed to READ ONLY.  That might help you, maybe not... worth a shot through.  Right click on the main Badge Help folder and choose properties.  See if it is marked READ ONLY.  If it is, remove that mark.

No, read only is not checked. But thanks for coming up with that idea to check.

I'll take that back, yes the folder was read only, but everytime I change it, it keeps defaulting back to read only.

One other thing and it will affect some autos and not others. Make sure you are running Vista in Windows Classic Mode. Aero is the default so if you have not changed it try that

Can someone tell me why people choose Vista?  It seems everyone is having problems (Cheater problems and otherwise).  Should I make sure to skirt Vista if I should enter the computer market soon?  I have XP and love it.

Sorry to hear about your probs with the OS.  Good luck.

Vista is mandatory on most new pc's. I prefer XP myself.

Error Message:

Unable to create directory.

Explanation:

Either you do not have write permission for the parent directory, or there is not enough room on the target disk to create the directory.

User Action:

Check that you have permission to write to the parent directory. If you do not, log on as a user with the necessary permissions. If you do have write permission for the parent directory, check the available space on the target disk. If the disk is full, delete some files to make room for the directory. Also, verify the directory path, and check that the file or directory you are creating does not already exist.

This was going to be my next suggestion... make sure you have administrator rights.  I do not know how to do that, but it's been a problem with Vista for a lot of users.  It's a setting that you have to change in there somewhere.

When I bought my laptop from Dell, I asked them for XP and they were not willing to put it on this computer.  They no longer put it on any computers, and I think the only way to get it is to build one from the ground up.

It's not terrible, but the many "little" quirks outweigh the benefits.

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions, but no matter what I do, I keep getting the same problem "Unable to Create Directory".

As far as to why I upgrade to Vista, I did it to help my dad with his computer which has Vista on his new computer, and I had a brain fart for doing the upgrade in the first place.

I have another option and that's to run the cheat program on the wife's computer, which was my older one and it has XP SP2 on it.

Again, thank you for your suggestions. :/\

It's likely a vista issue. You might want to try the microsoft boards to see if they can help

Hi, sorry to be late in reading this post but, I ran into the same problem with one auto and fixed by right clicking on the install exe and ran as administrator.  Took care of the problem for me.  Hope this helps.

arniebear

Personally, I had some problems with Vista on my Dell laptop and because I had an older Dell desktop I could just load XP from the OS disk Dell sent with that one. In Vista even though I installed a program as and administrator, when I went to run it I would get that I did not have enough privileges and would have to right click every time to run as administrator.  Here is an article on administrative rights and adding or removing maybe it will help.

I'm going to check that out even though I haven't had any administrator problems on my Dell, but every so often the folders will end up READ ONLY and the autos won't work when that happens so I have to to go to the Badge Help folder and change it.   Vista is soooooo quirky.

Holy Moly, arnie!!  That site is a wealth of information for Vista users!!!

Here's the link to the main page.   http://www.maximumpcguides.com/

Wish I had that sooner!

Thanks!!!!!

Thanks Stinker  There is lots of info. I did a sorta look hoping I could find something on increaseing the Java cache. It reeks havoc with the 2 dominoes autos. Maybe later I can find something on it

You're welcome, but I never would have found it without arnies post!  I even posted a question there... hoping for an answer.

Good luck on skirting Vista...this is Microsoft doing this again. It has nothing to do with us being able to choose. It has replaced XP and from what my computer tech told me the only way you can change it is to have a tech do it. It is on all new computers...Squid. All of them.

Yep!  If you go have a computer built at a computer store, they will still put XP on for ya, but they charge a small fortune to do it.  Other than that.... it's on there and there's not much you can do.  I've even been reading in forums where people had XP put on their Vista PCs, only to discover that the hardware and other software are not compatible with XP.  I don't know why MS does this stuff.  My next computer will be a MAC.
