Hi All!   :/\

This is my first post on the forum, and I'm glad to be here with all you Pogoers (?)

I just purchased Word Riot Deluxe and it installed just fine, but when I click PLAY NOW....it tells me that I need to install Flash Player 8 or higher to play it. I have installed flash 9 several times but I still get the same message from the game. I get the message that Flash 9 has installed successfully each time I install it.
I hope someone can help me.

I have installed and uninstalled both the game AND the flash player probably 6 times....and no matter what I do, I get the same message about I need to install 8 or higher.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.   0:

Which web browser are you using?  What operating system?  When I got my Vista laptop, there was a site I wanted to go to but my Mozilla browswer wouldn't install the plugin for some reason.  I haven't tried lately, but I couldn't go to that site unless I was on IE.

Welcome to the forum.

Are you able to play by clicking on a room or do you get the same message?

I'm using WinXP and IE7.  I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of, and it's still a "no go"!

Yes, I can go to the Pogo rooms without any problem.

Yes, I can go to the Pogo rooms without any problem.

I don't know why the play now button doesn't work for you.

You have two choices:

1. Just click on a game room to start playing
2. Reinstall the program and see if that fixes it

I can go to any room IN Pogo.com.....that's not a problem.  Word Riot Deluxe is a downloadable game that you try or buy.  I bought it.  I have tried uninstalling it and installing it again and again, thinking that might be it...but it's not! girls18.gif  I have also deleted the flash player 9 and reinstalled it a dozen times, and that doesn't help either!

Any other ideas what might be wrong and how to fix it?   :OO

Thanks in advance

Homer

I know it's a downloadable game.

What I wanted to know was could you enter a room by clicking from the list below the play now button.

If you can't you'll have to request support from Oberon, Pogo or Adobe.

There really isn't anything I can do or suggest other than reinstalling the software.

Sorry, Homer....I misunderstood what you meant.

I can click the button below the "Play now" button(Get More Games), and it takes me to the pogo site where you can see all the other available downloadable games.

To get a little more technical about what is happening, I wrote down what the error boxes said in case you might be able to figure out what they want from me!  :"

When I go to play the game, it says, "This game required Flash Player 8 or higher to run. Would you like to automatically install Flash Player now?". I clicked on "Yes". Then I get the message, "The version of Adobe Flash Player AciveX that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit http://adobe.com/go/getflashplayer to obtain the latest, most secure version". I can see the Adobe Flash Player ActiveX Set in another box BEHIND this one but it not available to click on. It shows the "Output folder", and a path of "C:\Windows\system 32\Macromed\Flash".

Don't know if that might hold a clue as to what the problem is or not, but.....Yep, I'm hittin' it!  :=

There was an article on adobe about people experiencing problems when upgrading to flash 9.  At the time they were recommending uninstalling adobe 8 with their uninstaller before installing 9, something to do with it corrupting the registry entries (apparantly add/remove programs does not uninstall this program fully hence them having a proper uninstaller)

I'll see if I can find the article, but as with any changes to your computer, if you don't know what you are doing don't do it and always back up your system first :)

EDIT
Can't find the article from their database offhand and its bedtime lol.  But this is a quick reference guide on updating flash

You may have a problem with permissions in Internet Options Security Settings for Active X permissions, or under Tools - Manage Add-Ons (be sure Flash player is present and enabled.  GL

If you looked in the Add Ons section on the tools drop down in internet explorer and did not see Adobe or Macromedia Flash Player, you might go to the macromedia site and install it. Flash is a media player with codecs(decryptors) for all kinds of media from movies and songs, to simple animations like Riot uses

Ok I found this on Pogo Help Section because a friend was having probs with Flash and it DOES work !!
The first method did

If you are having a problem with being asked to install the Flash Player but are then encountering an error please try these steps:

First you will need to do a Clean Uninstall of Flash

   1. Go to Adobe's website and click on the 'Flash Player Uninstaller' for your operating system
   2. Choose Save, and then save the file to your desktop
   3. Right-click on the file you downloaded and choose 'Create Shortcut'
   4. Right-click on the Shortcut you just made and choose 'Properties'
   5. A new screen will appear. In the Target field add " /clean" so that it looks like this:
      "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\uninstall_flash_player.exe"  /clean
      Note: Make sure there is a space after the " and before the /
   6. Click OK
   7. Double-click on the Shortcut you created to run it
   8. Click OK and Close when prompted

Next you need to run the game and install the latest Flash Player

   1. Launch the game and you will be prompted to install the latest Flash player
   2. Click OK to install the Flash Player, it should install and you should be able to play the game
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If after following those steps above you are still encountering the Flash error please try these additional steps:
Your game has a special flash installer included in the download. This file is found in the following directory by default
C:\Program files\Oberon Media\<Your game's name>\Tools\InstallFlash9.exe
Please follow these instructions to browse to the above location and install the correct version of flash:
   1. Click on My Computer
   2. Double-Click C: (This is the default install directory)
   3. Double-Click Program Files
   4. Double-Click Oberon Media
   5. Double-Click <Your game's name>
   6. Double-Click Tools
   7. Double-Click InstallFlash9.exe
This file should reinstall the correct files for your flash player.
