I have sun java on my computer, and have ran IE7 and Firefox. But now My java only workes on IE7. On firefox it say no java. I downloaded Seamonkey and it does the same thing. I go to pogo and home page loads, than click on game to play and I get java not working on both firefox and seamokey. Checked my sisters computer and hers work but she has Sun and ms vm. Tried tofind ms jvm, but had no luck. Any suggestions on what I need to do to get the other browsers working with java. Thanks Destiny :OO

When I put FireFox on my Vista computer, I immediately had the same problem.  I could surf the web, do email, anything that didn't require Java... soon as I tried to load Pogo, the whole computer would freeze and I had to manually power it off.  Mozilla worked fine which was weird because FF is a Mozilla product.  However, with SeaMonkey I have not had that problem... hmmm.. let me check something quick... brb

Ok, my IE and SM are both using Java, Standard Edition.

Have you made sure you're running the latest edition of Java?

I found this link for you to check out :

http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/java/default.mspx

and it says that MSJVM will "reach the end of it's life, December 31, 2007" which sounds to me like it will no longer be supported but this site has some kind of helpful tips.

I'm sorry you're having these problems.  I sure wish we lived in a world where Java and browser compatibility issues were a thing of the past.

Good luck with this!   (OO)

Thanks Stinkerbell for trying to help. I have uninstalled and reinstalleed and nothing seem to help. I checked my java and it shows that it is checked for IE  ::)and Mozilla family, but it won't work. Guess I am just stuck with only IE7.

I'm sorry, Destiny.  (OO) I hate that it isn't working for you, because SM is great.  Maybe with another update down the road it will work out for you!.

Seems that there is an issue with some Java's and Firefox - got this from the mozilla knowledge base (help)

If you are running Windows Vista on your system, one specific version of Java may cause the browser to hang. The reported Java version is build 1.6.0-oem-b104. For more information, see this MozillaZine forum topic.

To resolve the issue, download the latest version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from Java.com and manually install it. According to this article, JRE 6 is the preferred version of Java for Windows Vista.

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Java-related+issues#Java_Console_disabled

You can check if you do have java and what the version is by typing about:plugins in the address window

Don't know if this is of any help to you

Thanks PogoKaz for the information, but I have windows XP, and my Java is up to date, so I still can not fingure out the problem.  :(

The only other thing I can think of is that Java is not enabled for firefox on your computer, to check (instructions from the java website)-

Click on your Start button in Windows, then go to   Control Panel.
Double click on the "Java" icon. (XP users: you may need to click on a link that says "Switch to Classic View" in the left pane in order to see the "Java" icon).
Click on the "Advanced" tab.
Expand the listing for "<APPLET> tag support" by clicking on the plus (+) sign.
Make sure that there is a check next to "Mozilla and Netscape."
Click on "OK."

then make sure its enabled on the firefox browser

   1. From the menu bar, choose Edit --> Preferences
   2. Select the Advanced category
   3. Check the box labeled "Enable Java"
   4. Click OK to save your preference.

There is a link to MS Java on the pogocheats home page, if you click on the link it gives you a direct download.  I've never been able to get it to work with my firefox (use it on IE and sun java on firefox) but you may be able to.

By god, I never knew about that. No wonder things never worked properly with Firefox - the box wasn't checked.

Thanks Kaz!  tumbsup.gif

I never knew that either and same boat move over, my FireFox didn't work either.  I wish I had known about this!  But from what I understand, FireFox is being sunsetted which means that eventually, there will be no updates and it will stop working all together.  I'll stick with the SeaMonkey.

FreecellFanny

Heck yes, I'll stick with SeaMonkey as well!  :-[

YVW, glad I could help  :D

Stinkerbell, I've just upgraded to firefox 3, love it, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be around for a long while to come.  Hate the thought of having to move browsers.  Tried Opera and Sea Monkey but its not the same lol.  I'm just an old f**t stuck in my ways  :)) :)) :))
