Ok, so yesterday, my darling daughter spilled her Dr. Pepper and a good portion landed on my laptop keyboard.  Yesterday, it wasn't at all bad, but today... OYE!

The keys are sticking as if someone put maple syrup under them.  The backspace key sticks worse of all and it's hard to type because it takes soooo much pressure to get the keys to go down and then you have to wait for them to come back up.  Dell is sending a new keyboard by Wednesday but is there something I can do in the meantime to clean the keys?  They don't seem to pop off like a standard keyboard does.

I guess I should consider myself VERY lucky, the computer is fully functional, otherwise.  Although I haven't turned it off yet... I'm afraid it won't start back up.   :))

Ideas?  Anyone?

Homer

Laptop keys are definitely different. I learned the hard way not to mess with them. LOL

This may help

Thanks, Homer!

I had done very few of those things.  I immediately grabbed the laptop and turned it upside down and quite a bit came out right away (sounds like I could have been electrocuted).  I unplugged it and left it upside down for awhile then cleaned it with a damp microfiber cloth.  I left it turned on so the heat would help dry it out also.  So, like I said, it's working but typing is a nightmare.  Almost as bad as ranking out in TriPeaks.   :))  Thank heavens I paid for the accidental coverage... I've had to use it 3x already for keyboards alone.  Once, my grandson stepped on it, another time my son dropped the power supply on it and broke a key and now this.

Thanks again, that's interesting information.

My god, I wouldn't have the patience to clean it. I'd be sending it out for servicing.  !@#$

Hate to laugh at your misfortune, but this post did make me laugh out loud. What luck! You poor thing. I wouldn't have the patience to keep getting it fixed. That's why I have two desktops and a laptop in my bedroom. Idiot that I am. All for Pogo games to work.   :))

I spilled something recently on my laptop keyboard as well. Wiped it off... gave it time to dry... and used alcohol wipes which seemed to have worked well as far as getting the keys to unstick.

Yeah, yeah... go ahead. But just you wait til Fwankwin spills something on YOUR keyboard.  Don't come here looking for MY sympathy!   :))) :))) :)))

Just kidding... it was kinda funny.... in a frustrating sort of way.

Sorry Stinker I hope you get it fixed soon.
My nephew once spilled pop in my keyboard while I was at work one night. He called me at work to tell me so I would have the whole night to get over my anger  !@#$     :%#
What scared me the most was receiving the call at work! I thought something terrible had happened.
