I thought about putting this in "off topic" but this is a technical issue so it is where it is.

I have a Panasonic Model # CT-27SL14 TV, about 4 years old and the bugger turns on the audio whenever it feels like it -- USUALLY in the middle of the night.  It's been doing it infrequently for the last 3 1/2 years (right after the warranty expired) but only recently started doing it a few times a week.  No picture comes on, only the audio of the last channel the TV was tuned to.  It's making me INSANE!!!  The first time it happened, it woke me from a dead sleep and I thought we were being robbed.  I got up to investigate, and realizing no one was in the house but us, was convinced we were being haunted.  Well, anyway... it happened at the old house with Charter Cable and now it's happening at the new house with FIOS TV, so that's not the issue.  If I turn on the TV, press the mute button then turn it off the TV, it still comes on in the night, but it's on mute.

I've done internet searches trying to figure this out, I've called TV sales places and no one has a clue what could be causing it.

So, any of you techie type gurus out there have any suggestions?    :/o\

Stop sleeping on the remote  :)) :)) :))

You're lucky I promised not to  do this  :%# anymore.  So take this    :{:   instead!

:)))   It's weird because the picture doesn't come on, just the audio.

Just a thought, could you possibly have a sleep timer thats been programmed maybe for audio only???
I have a stereo that everytime it gets moved/unplugged a timer gets re-programmed and it will start coming on by its self. I know it does this and yet for the past 10 yrs it scares the heck out of me EVERY time..LOL
Good Luck hope ya figure it out.

Might be a thought... it does come on at either the hour or half hour.  My DH hunted high and low and found the manual so we can check that out.  That's for the input!

Unplug it at night.

That would be easy, but the TV resets itself when unplugged and you have to reprogram the channels.  Not to mention the thing is on a very heavy entertainment unit.

you don'nt happen too have a sleep wakeup or anything set for it?

I would try too reset the tv.

Thanks for the suggestion!  We have the manual so I am going to try and reset it somehow, but this TV, when you unplug it, it goes through the whole set up again... searching for channels, etc.
