How many of my fellow cheaters run autos on a lap top and how has it worked for you   Thanks  and Take a cookie

Homer

I usually run my autos on my desktop but I have run them on my laptop occasionally when necessary and haven't had any issues.

I have been running two laptops each for years now. One laptop has been running everyday for nearly 5 years. It was a high-end laptop with a ton of memory.

Also, I AWLAYS use a laptop cooling fan, which goes underneath and runs off USB power. I turn it off once every day, clear files in Java and Internet options before every cheat session. No complaints here.

I buy Targus brand fans (the biggest possible model from the brand) at Target. I find them next to the computer mice/disks in electronics. Some of them can be really loud or not work out of the box, return those immediately. These Targus ones cost $20-$40, depending on the size of laptop it is designed to work with.

Like I said, I get the biggest fan I can find. From time to time, vacuum the dust/lint out of the fan. At the earliest sign of it not working (which I check every month when I do the Word Search Daily 30 puzzles), I go to Target and buy another. It even helps with OLD computers. Most laptop internal fans are insufficient for 24/7 operations and the space between the laptop and the desk/table is not enough to promote good airflow. That is what the laptop cooling fan does, it raises the laptop, provides a great airflow and pulls the hot air/heat away from the bottom of the laptop.

All electrical and electronic devices have an expected life, the amount of time you can use them. If these devices overheat continuously, you significantly reduce the expected life. In some cases you reduce the expected life by as much as half. Getting a fan or replacing a fan is at least 20 times cheaper than replacing a decent laptop.

How will you move the autos, Har?

I've been using a laptop for autos for about five years, no extra cooling fan.  I've had no problems except the usual issues with BH autos that have been problematic since the dawn of time.

Good luck with the laptop!  Thanks for the cookie.  Got any ice cold milk?

Bh is always real nice about things. Since they had to reset page cause I messed it up may as well start moving things over and taking them off the PC since I never really get to use  it except doing taxes. I would rather use the PC cause it has a 1TB hard drive got loads of space for stuff

Squid

wow, that's a great hard drive.  I can only dream of the day when I have that kind of power/space.
