This is from the Pogo news section :

Big Change to Weekly Challenge Activation!

In an effort to create more consistency across all of our Badge offerings, beginning Tuesday, September 27, all Weekly Challenges will require Activation. To Activate, you will need to click "Activate" on Pogo's homepage, in Badge Central or on a Room Selector Page. This is similar to how you activate Personal Challenges.

Nothing spoils a good story like the arrival of an eyewitness.

Does this mean I can activate any 4 (or 2 or 3) that I want? Like if I want to work on 4 badges from 2007 and skip the two newest releases for the week, I can?

Not sure this question can be answered...but it's what I thought of. If you can't, it seems like a pointless "change".

I dont see why they want you too activate a weekly. It doesnt make sence too me. is pogo loosing its mind LOL  giggle2.gif

It is just another ploy to pretend to make things hard for cheaters. Then again, I will just activate the challenge from my phone or before I go to work.

Greetings,
I agree it is a ploy to deter cheating.  I.E.  knowing a game challenge is coming up...say lottso...some of us might just run the lottso auto all night...and thus get the badge when they wake up.

What say you?

S1lent

P.S.   POGO doesn't always make sense...but there is a method to their madness.

roadwarrior

How would this deter cheating?

I mean...we already have people putting themselves in room the night before ,wake up have the weekly badge.

So no they wake up, activate the badge, go back to bed/take a shower/feed Homer a cheeseburger and they still come back to the badge.

pogo kapil told me:

I am sorry for any inconvenience but now you will be provided more choices on weekly challenges and you would be able to activate any two of the given choices

me:  so if we don't choose to do the two weekly challenges does that mean we can do four personal?

Pogo:  No, it's that you will be given more choices on the weekly games now.

me:  and that means?  there's only two choices-do the weekly challenge or don't do the weekly

pogo:  Actually whatever info creative team provided us, we pasted the same on Pogo News section. Pogo is also planning a few graphical changes to the Badge progress area too. This change will add more consistency to Pogo's Challenge system and best of all, it will allow Pogo to "do some cool stuff with weekly badges in the future". One of the cool things is that you'll be able to activate a weekly challenge and a personal challenge in the same game at the same time.

That's pretty much the scripted line they gave me.  I tried a couple other pogo helpers too, and they gave me the same above line.

Maybe they're trying to be more politically correct, ya know? I mean, what if your religion teaches that squid are sacred and you don't want to have to play the weekly challenge that requires you to kill 5,000 squid. I mean, come on, killing that many squid might cause emotional duress if they are a religious icon, so this way they allow you to skip that weekly challenge without losing out on a badge. Instead of playing the for the squidinator badge, you can instead activate a different challenge.

If anyone has issues smashing squid, I will earn their badge for them. And I will win it x50 times for my accounts.

Makes one wonder if Pogo is no longer going to let you keep weekly challenges if you do not activate them.  If you do not activate can you go back and get it later as a personal challenge .  Or is it gone forever?

It will still be there to activate later as a personal Challenge. I think their idea is exactly for that. Usually if you miss a challenge , then you have to wait so long before you can play a Weekly challenge again, so this way if you didn't activate during the Weekly challenge, you should be able to activate it later. Or be able to reactivate it again later.

Mind you this is just my opinion. I guess we will wait and see.

And really activating a challenge has nothing to do with cheats, auto etc.

WRONG.... people who have autos sometimes jump in the room the night before they go to bed and just automatically get the badge in the morning. Now it is a waste to jump in a room early since you have to activate the damn badge first. It will for sure put a dent in the fun of it for all us autos users who now have to wait to activate it.

I will try and solve that issue  tumbsup.gif

I may of figured it out as to why they did this.

Once you activate the challenge it starts a timer and when you complete the challenge it stops the timer. If you finish too fast (auto use) they will know.

Activate on Wednesday...run your autos on Saturday, took you 4 days. Unless they can also tell how long it took you to complete the badge by actual playing time.

Sue

I actually think it has to do with something they havent told us about yet.
