Is there a secret to getting a fruit bonus??? I am up to rank 4 but only 1/12 with fruit bonus...

Once in awhile a fruit pops up for a limited time somewhere on the board and you have to shoot it before it disappears, it's kinda like the old Pac-Man was with the fruit popping up below the ghost home for a limited time.
