The Oscars ... Will Smith smacked Chris Rock

Will Smith smacked Chris Rock in the face after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith at The Oscars.

Chris made a comment about Jada's shaved head ... saying he couldn't wait to see 'G.I. Jane 2' -- which got some groans from the crowd, to which he just sorta shrugged off.

Chris didn't think he'd crossed a line, but Will clearly did ... because he stormed the stage and literally socked the dude in the face. A stunned Rock exclaimed, "Wow. Will Smith just smacked the s*** outta me."

It's because she has some kind of condition that causes hair loss. I feel that Chris crossed a line, but I don't think it deserved the reaction from Will that he got.

In general, I don't like watching the Academy Awards because it's a show about a bunch of narcissists trying to out-do each other.  MY OPINION ONLY!!

Terrible behavior on Smith's part.  We all know Rock's style.  I can barely name a moment when he avoids being inappropriate.  Sorry, everyone's free game in a comedian's delivery.  Smith laughed about the joke until he saw Pinkett roll her eyes in response, then Smith's posture changed.  It's never ok to become violent, IMO, no matter what was said.  He's lucky he isn't being charged.

I don't watch the Oscars, but this little event was plastered all over the internet.

It'll be interesting to see if anything comes from it.
