Try a new floppy or burn your files to a blank cd ;)

no you don't need software. it is a windows command.

Put disk in A:\ drive

Click My Computer

You will now see the different drives.

Right click on the A:\ drive and select format

A new window will open just click start.

Do not select quick format. Sometimes does not work so well.

It will take a minute or 2.

Whatever you do don't format your hard drive. Usually letters C or D that would wipe out your hard drive.

If it won't format it's because the disk is dead...  :'(
If there is data on it that you need, see my upper post...
If there isn't anything on it that you need just chuck it out the window...

badcrazygirl

but that was a new disk and i had no data saved on it

Floppies are just junk now anyways... Get yourself a nice usb key drive...

http://www.mrtechus.com/xt64usbfldr.html

It's 64Mbs large... That's around the size of 45-50 floppy drives... It fits w/o any trouble onto your key ring and it's only $25... Plugs right into any USB port on any computer and they can really take a beating without worrying about data loss...

badcrazygirl

i'm not worried about lost data its just wont save any data and it wont format that's my problem i dont have any problems with lost cuz i dont have any lol

Homer

I think you have a bad disk/s. Once I had a whole box of bad disks. :'(

I'm just saying you should just get rid of the floppy disks all together...
Most computer companies have stopped support of the floppy drive... Apple was the first to do it several years ago... Sometime last year I believe Dell stopped including the floppy as a standard drive... Soon enough Compact, Gateway, and others will all be phasing out the floppy drive as a standard drive on computers... USB flash drives are totally the way to go for quick and easy storage of stuff...

badcrazygirl

well that cant be because my mom just brought me a whole bunch of disk

Homer

Don't you have a cd burner on your pc? You can save files to a cd-r.

I'd take the time to explain but I've got class in 10 mins... So I gotta run soon... If no one helps you, then when I get home I will explain (in GREAT length... As usuall)... ;)

This is for windows xp. I don't know what version of windows you use.

If you have a cd burner pop in a blank cd-r.

You will get a pop up

Highlight Open writable cd folder using windows explorer

Click ok

A window will open indicating the cdr drive. Click and drag the files you want to save into this window.

Click write these files to cd

The cd writing wizard will now open.

Type the name you want for your cd in the window

Put a check in the box to close the wizard when done.

Click next. Your files are now being saved to cd-r

The windows will close automatically when done and your cd drive should open with your new cd!

You are now done.

After burning pop the cd into your regualr cdrom drive and check the disk just to be sure.

That's it! ;D
