Let's do playoff "hopes"

The NFL disbands it's ridiculous playoff structure where 9-7/8-8 teams are in contention.

Top NFC contenders....Atlanta/Philadelphia?

I can name 6 AFC teams right now that could beat both of these teams with their 2nd string.

This is going to be a chitty, chitty, chitty Superbowl.

I hope a long shot like Seattle gets in just to show how crappy the set up is, maybe they will change it.

That'll never happen it's all about the revenue.

In fact they are thinking about having pro games on Thursday, Saturday, Sunday & Mondays in the future. As a fan I would love it but to the NFL they are trying to maximize revenues.

Yes, now I do like that part....extending it into a football weekend.

I just don't see why it's not a big deal to just throw them all in together like other sports do and X amount of teams get in with the best records and #1 plays #8 and 2 plays 7 etc....

I have no problem with that concept. The teams with the best records should be the ones to get in.

I remember years ago in hockey all the teams except the worst team in each conference would make the playoffs. Now that's ridiculous.

If the league can increase revenue AND make fans happy that's cool.  And where I live I'm stuck watching Denver and Dallas every Sunday.  So having games throughout the week would be appreciated.

The NFL playoffs don't usually go like this, so it doesn't bug me as much.  But I do understand fan's frustration.

I like Homer's picks for the playoffs.  Although Seattle / St Louis is a bit of a coin toss.  The winner is just fodder for the next round...

ok, i agree with some of the rams points, like martz...(stupid coach) but the rams are 2-0 against the seahawks, they had the biggest comeback of the year against the seahawks, they beat the hawks almost everytime they have played... the rams just have the hawks number. 1/4 of the wins the rams had this year was from the seahawks. mind you i live in st. louis but i have hated the rams since late 98 when they got kurt warner ( i feel sorry for the giants) even their superbowl victory, i didn't like them until this year, and they stink all over again. but i guess that makes me an anti-fair weather fan huh... anyways, the rams are going to beat the seahawks... its simple... colts, packers, jets... the super bowl will be Eagles vs. Steelers... go Steelers.

Geez, I would think you would like Warner being he led the team to a SuperBowl win.

It should be a close game albeit a high scoring one. In my opinion neither team belongs in the playoffs.

To me there are more questions with the Rams than the Seahawks.

1. Is Bulger really healthy?
2. Will Martz be smart enough to ride Steven Jackson?

Other things that influenced my pick is homefield advantage.
The weather is going to be sloppy with a mix of rain and snow forecast for tomorrow.
It's not very often a team beats there opponent 3 times in the same season. (Not that it couldn't be done)

nah, i hated warner... he was a show off, and a cry-baby, like the game when the rams were down last season, and martz pulled bulger, told warner to get in and he said... no, let the kid do it... that just showed me that he was not willing to help the team win, he was mad at the team for putting a super bowl mvp on the bench... he got out played by bulger, the team liked bulger not warner, most of st. louis hates warner. well most of the people i talk to. You know when the big coach says to go in and play... and your trying to get your spot of # 1 back, wouldn't you love to jump up and shove it in the kids face... that this is the nfl, and not college ball anymore.

oh, homer, do you know if this site allows animation in the sigs, mine is an animation, but i can't get it to animate.

I checked your image it is in gif format but only consists of one frame. Therefore there is no animation to it. To answer your question....I don't think it is a big deal as long as you don't get carried away with the file size or the animation being annoying. ;)

Is it me or are the announcers really sucking up to the Rams? If I here one more time how prolific their offense is I'm going to puke. To hear them talk you would think they had 4 or 5 TD's already. ???

ok, sorry homer, but i had to let ya know... the rams kicked some ace today... well sort-of, but you know whats sad, anyone that lives anywhere and saw that game, had to agree it was a great game, no matter the outcome... that game will probably be better than the superbowl, cause whoever goes, the afc (cough... steelers... cough...) are going to win, and murder the nfc...(cough... eagles... cough...) excuse me... anyway... i had to let you know that from the st. louis t.v.'s out here, they talked all about the seahawks, and how they didn't win a playoff game since 84... and that one announcer... "eat it" i think i heard that more than anything today... but that is like always, i think everyteam hates st. louis teams... you can just feel it... like the world series in baseball, granted the cardinals didn't perform at all, and completely choked, all you heard about was red sox fans... and when they were in st. louis, red sox fans were on the titantron more than cardinal fans... ah well, thats my 2 or 3 cents...
