About flat panel monitors.

Does anyone know if you can take another companies flat panel and hook it up to a different companies.I have a hewlett packard,but I would like to get one that's not too pricey.Anyone know if walmarts flat panels are any good?

1. Yes. It shouldn't make a difference. Any normal flat panal should be able to be hooked up to any computer manufactured recently.

2. It depends on which monitor you are talking about. You're best bet would be to go to www.cnet.com and go to their review section. They normally are up to date on all the new products.

i dont know too much about computers but I recently had my super duper computer lose its motherboards- so while I wait on the part from Gateway I have to use a dinosaur that I have and my flat panel will not hook up to it because the prongs are different - one is flat the other is round so just make sure they will match up. I dont know if these things come with adapters or not. But that is my experience right now. Hope that helps- just look at the end of the monitor you are now using and compare it to the one you want. ;D

As far as using a different brand monitor with a HP computer, I can't help you because I have no idea but I can tell you a little bit about Wal-Mart.

I worked at Wal-Mart almost four years and I have heard several times that most of their computers are refurbished. This guy I talked to had trouble with a computer from there and they wouldn't take it back so the guy called Wal-Mart's home office and the person on the phone told him that all of Wal-Mart's computers are refurbished and sold as new. That probably includes monitors so I would think twice about buying one from Wal-Mart. Also, I don't think they are much cheaper than other places.

Thats awful- i didnt think you could sell a refurbished computer as new and that you had to label it as such. If that is truely the case - it is really awful.

i have had to change monitors on puters before coz one monitor went out. as long it will plug into to the pc u shouldnt have any problems.

ty for everyones input.on the refurbished i believe it might be that they have to say refurbished or used.atleast i think or is another word for refurbished.i would never by a puter from walmart.just looking to save about $100.00 on a flat panel.only problem it's an online only thing.what's a analog video cable? power adapter? are either of those that plug into back of my puter?

Most flat panel monitors will come with an analog adapter (for the older systems that don't support digital input) O0

When I built my current computer, I held on to the Dell flat panel I have. You won't have any problems I'm sure.

I got my lcd flat screen from newegg.com and i have no problems with mine and mine and my hubby's puter were built from newegg. We both love out computer we dont have problems out of them. But that is all a matter of opinion too... ;)
