As long as old nellie keeps working I am not gonna replace her ..I did have to add ram a couple years ago but that is it..I monthly take the cover off and blow all the dust out and keep the guts clean and I think that has helped a lot..But sadly this week my cd burner is acting up..out of a 20 song burn I only get maybe 5 on the cd..grrrrrrrrrr..But gonna do a blow out tonight and maybe after a good clean it will work right again..

OOPS...I lied unintentionally..I bought it March 2002..It isn't 10 years old yet..

I may be wrong, but don't they now call it restoring a hard drive? And yes, it seems they were asking about doing a disk defrag? With the size of hard drives theses days, it's just not needed. My hat is off, and dropping in the snow, to the person with the 10 year old puter, that still can earn a badge. It's rarely I'm proud, but you have done well! Now, as to the hats's location?

No win 7 has to be defragged just like everything else all computers have a maintence program that you can set to run at set times.

Homer  you deserve it   beer11.gif

Re formating is considered a last resort to a pc that's basically had it, often due to age, and all other remedies have been exhausted. This has always been my experience. In most cases it's more practical to simply buy a new computer.

Do you mean  Defrag maybe?? blink.gif

The Advanced System Care program I referred them to will take care of defragging for them.

Wow, this thread made a couple of curvy turns.  Homer gets the patience award on this one, that's for sure.  It cracks me up that someone asks a simple, reasonable question and the reaction to that question is completely unreasonable!  God bless you, Homeroooo!!
