I love pickled beets. My kids on the other hand.... When I fix them, anyone who doesn't eat just 1 bite has to do the dishes and clean the kitchen. Last time I had 3 sons doing the dishes. That's out of 4 that were home for dinner. Can you believe teens that would rather do dishes than take 1 bite?!? I always keep some around for when I don't feel like doing the dishes LOL

You are mean!. lol.  Really tho, I left the table one night because my wife had beats in front of me and would NOT come back to the table untill they was out of my sight...................

Beets may be the bomb but to me they taste like WET DIRT of course the last time I had canned beets was when I was a wee lil sonic. so it may just be in my brain.

Were they regular beets or pickled beets?  My bf says the same thing about beets but that's because he had never tried pickled beets before.....I love pickled beets but not the regular ones...those are the ones that taste like dirt

They where Regular  canned beets, but i Have Tried both picked and home jarred (in some sweet pickle like brine) and I could still taste earth. and yes I know what earth tastes like I was 2 years old at one time lol

Oh and I would like to add that the way we perceive taste always amazes me because I think every one has a unique sense of taste so what may taste sweet and pleasent to me, maybe because every one grows differently, may taste bitter to some one else, I think this is because tastebuds can be of different sizes, so one may have bigger bitter tastebuds so it registers bitter and unpleasant. but the funny thing about spam is, no matter the person it still tastes like SPAM (greasy and salty)

Hahaha, good one. That's the way my hubby is with onions. He'd rather do ANYTHING than eat them. We were out for his Mom's 70th birthday and his brother said, (we were at the Outback) "if you eat 2 pieces of the bloomin' onion, I'll pay the whole bill. I couldn't believe my eyes. He held his nose and downed 2 pieces. Needless to say, all of us were rolling on the floor.  My bro-in-law wasn't quite as amused though when he got the bill and it was over $300!!!!!

Believe it or not. I actually lived in a trailer when Hurricane Hugo hit us in Charleston. Guess I was lucky Hubby worked in the meat department. We packed it all in coolers and took all the meat home, cooked it on several grills and feed the entire trailer park for almost a week. I also worked cleaning up the stores after Hugo so I never had to resort to SPAM. Canned Tuna and Hash yes but no spam.

I've never ate SPAM. What does it actually taste like? I'm not joking. I really have never ate it.

Then you've obviously A. Never went through a hurricane or B. Lived in a trailer park. :o

JUST KIDDING!!!

Actually, it's not bad as long as you don't think about what's in it.  And with all of Homer's WONDERFUL recipes, it's still best sliced and fried in butter on bread with a little mayo.

Pickled beets are great ;D  That is, as long as they're seasoned properly O0.

As far as Spam, everytime I hear the word I think back to the Monty Python sketch :)) :)) :)).
