Was wondering if anyone got 20 worth of gems from pogo free.  Got a notice a couple of days ago they were giving me 20.  I guess to try to get me to buy some (which I won't), money is to tight for that.  My gift to me is the pogo club, hope it does not go up to much, but will probably pay it.  Joined at tax time so I can renue at same time with the money to pay for it.

It's all in the addiction... Kinda like cigarettes... they keep raising the price.  No matter what the cost, if you are addicted you'll gripe & complain the whole time, but in the end you'll still pay.  So what are the options???  Well, we can 1) shut up & color, 2) quit the addiction, or 3) try to cut back as much as possible to not spend as much $$$.  I choose #3 for both Cigarettes and Pogo, seemed to be the best option for me.  On another note I chose #1 for gasoline prices LOL... gotta get to them stores to shop & spend all the money I saved with things I chose option 3 on ya know!!!   :D

My 2 cents for what its worth- Pogo is a business, they are in business to MAKE money. They offer a product that people want- online games were we can spend time playing games. I do agree however they should spend some of the money on improving their servers however, instead of having new games every month improve their servers.
I know a lot of people get upset since they can't afford to buy all the badges that Pogo has to offer, but that's pretty much no differant then anything else in life.

I actually DO have the money to purchase all these items pogo is selling, but I'm NOT gonna do it I tell ya!!  >:(( I'll continue to pay for the annual no matter how much it costs but as far as that other stuff goes... I'd rather spend my REAL money on REAL clothing and REAL goodies for my house REAL furniture and REAL casino games.  :, I've already spent too much on the other badge books and the cell phone games/badges.  I used to be a badge hog, but since gems were released I've started my own personal BHA (badge hogs anonymous) sessions and I think I'm recovering just fine without all the new fancy schmancy stuff.  :pp

LMAO, How does one know for sure that pogo doesn't really own Badge Help

Stranger things have happened

I hear a lot of complaints about the price of pogo, How about the price of health care, New automobiles, Food, Fuel, Prescriptions, In my way of thinking for Not having to put gas in the car, drive to the movies, bowling alley, pool hall, etc and even risking an accident doing so, I will gladly keep my car garaged, by azz parked on my easy chair, where I can pet my dog, have a beer, chat with friends and work on badges n tokies

                                                Just an old dutchmans opinion

Last January I was able to Join CLUB Pogo for $19.95... Pogo offered me a $10 off the 'regular' price of $29.95.  Sorry but No way will I pay $39.95 for another year.  I'm not into tokens or badges... I play the games I like.  When Pogo contacts me about my membership expiring soon and doesn't offer me a discount, I'll probably drop CLUB Pogo for awhile and see if I MISS the Club games (Texas Holdem-Lottos-etc)  <...> BUT the thing I can never figure out is the people who pay $150 for all the cheat programs....  whats the point of that?  Heck Pogo is missing a Gold Mine-THEY should sell their OWN cheats for their games  LOL

As someone said earlier, either on this thread or another Pogo+money thread, it's a hobby.  Looking at it that way I'm a lot more relaxed about it.  I like most games on Pogo, I like the badges, I like competing with my RL Pogo buddy, I like figuring out different ways to get through the challenges on games I hate, I like dressing up my mini.  And I even occasionally meet someone kewl on Pogo or on a Pogo forum.  The things I like outweigh the things I don't like.

Oh, and I have had the cable company suddenly take a channel I liked up to another tier.  I just decided I didn't like that channel quite enough to pay that much more for it.  As it is we have 100+ channels and we watch about three of them.

I'll probably end up buying the Poppit Show not only for the badges, but so I can put it on the computer at my mom's house for my nieces and nephews to play offline (they're too young to be in chat rooms... especially with some of the people you meet on Pogo).

I agree with you all BUT the real issue is that 39.99 for membership INCLUDES the yearly badge books and the Badge Award Album.   Will it be fair if they make the Poppit show a weekly challenge?  No! Because some people don't have the game.  For that same reason they should either move the 6 badges to a new book somewhere or give the Poppit Show away.

I have been a member for over 4 years and all I ever won is a few screensavers which I would never use.  And enough wallpaper to cover France.  What the heck is it for anyhow?

I have been playing on pogo since it was first around (long long before it was called pogo).  I remember long down times (days not hours).  New games would come out and it was sometimes weeks before you get the game to load and be able to play.  Imo this is the most superior game site on the net even with its Tuesday maintenance and sporadic down times.  The cost???....well in comparison to what other things cost in life....this is really not that expensive.  My friends, family and I use pogo things as gifts to help offset the costs per person.  We give memberships and premium albums as gifts to each other.  The new gems was hard cause we couldnt gift them, however we found a way around it by giving either cash or visa/mastercard giftcards for the purchase.

Basically its not that expensive for what you get ( almost 24 hours a day 7 days of the week year round entertainment).  I know no where else you can get that for the price pogo charges.

I joined club pogo because of some of the games you can't play on regular pogo.  They sent me a free trial and bam I was hooked.  I like winning badges, but not a biggy if I don't get one.  With a small income and 2 grandsons to raise my only self indulgence is my pogo membership.  Hope they don't raise it to much more.  0:

but if we didn't pay Pogo for all the goodies...what would pay the 4999.99 if we won it?
Not that I've won anything, but I'm willing to pay a small amount to possibly someday winn a big amount and a year of fun for 40 bucks is worth it to me. I just waste my time buying all the add on badge albums and stuff. I can have fun with just the club pogo badges offered every week.

IMO there is no difference in buying albums with gems as with cash as before. It's the same just a new method. I am not a badge hound and don't care if my albums are filled. The poppit to go was a free trial, then if wanted to play more it has to be purchased. They don't make us buy any of the albums etc. I didn't like the increase in the annual fee but it's still cheap compared to going to the movies every week or going to a bar and spending money.Spend that amount easily in  one evening. The same goes for the albums. They are not twisting our arms to buy anything. Imagin there are 10000's of members who don't buy the albums let alone the auto programs.  I go there because I enjoy the games. I can't get myself upset over the additional cost Pogo throws at us. Remember this is IMO.

As far as the mini's are concerned there were some decent background that could get with tokens and same with clothes and goodies. I personally don't care for the animated backgrounds, the only item I spent gems on was the falling snow. I never look at players profiles to see the mini's, I only see my own so not spending $$ on the mini.

I do collect badges.  Thats my soul purpose for being a member.  Certainly will never win the double jackpot. And almost every game on Pogo can be found elsewhere on the net for free.  So the way I see it,  If I can't fill the book why bother being a member any longer.

I understand what you are saying but I see it slightly different. They wouldnt be so money hungry in  my thinking if they would re invest a little of the money in say NEW SERVERS or PEOPLE able to get the job done. I hold my breath on Tuesday just hoping it all works when they get it going after maintence. Also if you lived in the UK you would not even have the chance to buy premium books gems or special mini mall items. Dont worry about what you cant get but enjoy what you have.  Right now I am able to get things Pogo offers. But in December of 07 my husband will be retiring and that will probably change and I will just do what I can. Have fun and enjoy what you have. Besides with him retiring I will be going back to work and the whole Pogo obession may fade into the mist.

I agree with this.   Also with the quote someone said... if you don't want it don't buy it.  BUT BUT BUT  the issue is that 39.99 for membership INCLUDES the yearly badge books and the Badge Award album.   Will it be fair if they make the Poppit show a weekly challenge?  No! Because some people don't have the game.  For that same reason they should either move the 6 badges to a new book somewhere or give the Poppit Show away.

For those that keep complaining, I have some comparisons for you that might put it in better perspective. Think of pogo as your beloved cable company. You have a basic free service which gets you local channels. Pay a little but per month and you get some extra channels (like club games), want some premium channels like HBO and showtime, well that's a little more (premium albums anybody), want that pay-per-view moive (Mix and Match) that you have to pay a one time fee for.

If you feel you are getting ripped off, shop elsewhere. If enough people do that, they will lose money and change policies

The price isn't the big issue.  Though it is annoying.   But lets use the Cable TV scenerio.  Let's say.. You get basic channels for free.  Your favorite program is on a basic channel.  The cable is extra.  So you get cable.  Would it be right for the cable company to start charging you for your favorite show thats on a free channel??

I don't buy into the gems or premium books(I did buy the first 3 premium books awhile ago). I just figured I'll spend my money on other stuff.

I think the whole problem I have with pogo is their server issues and the lack of support from their employee's.

I choose not to buy anything else on there because to me, it's a waste of my money. I'll keep my club pogo but that's it. There's a few games I love on Club pogo.

I understand both sides of this.

Your totally right! Pogo takes all our $$ and instead of making things better, they generate new games to buy.
