But think about it...

If people are new to Pogo, or even just new to the concept of autos, they may not know that the autos don't hack. So, pogo is probably trying to use scare tactics to try to keep people from starting to use autos, rather than trying to convert those of us that have used autos for a long time.

It just seems pogo is saying that because they dont want any more auto users cuz we are too good for them ::) just a thought

It would make sense, telling people that it is illegal when technically it is NOT reffering to the code of law they referenced, they make it seem it is illegal so people will stay away / stop using autos.

??? pogo we already got u figured out :-X

Just to clarify, Pogo is being very misleading when they imply that using auto programs is illegal.

"...and may result in criminal liability under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, Section 1030 of the United States Code."

Section 1030 of the United States Code only applies to hacking a computer system. As I'm sure everyone is well aware of, auto programs do not hack.

Here is a link to Section 1030, if anyone wants to read it for themselves: http://assembler.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode18/usc_sec_18_00001030----000-.html

I just received the newsletter and they had a section on autos. Here it is.

If you play certain games, there's no doubt you've seen the chat spam from certain undesirable players advertising cheat programs that 'play the games for you.' They state that you can win multitudes of tokens and even jackpots by purchasing their product. What they don't tell you is that you can also lose your account, forfeit any winnings, and if you play on Club Pogo, you will lose any paid time remaining on your membership.

We do take cheating seriously. Anytime someone wins a jackpot, we audit the account and if it is determined that the account has been using cheat software, we will block that account, and we will forfeit the prize. We have disqualified more than a few players for use of the cheat program. We have also blocked a great number of accounts for using such programs.

As stated in our Prize Rules:

"The use of machines, computers, scripts or any automated system to play the Games is strictly prohibited and may result in criminal liability under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, Section 1030 of the United States Code. pogo.com may terminate and permanently disqualify any entrants who pogo.com, in its sole discretion, determines as being in violation of these Official Rules."

If you have purchased one of these programs, we strongly urge you to contact the vendor and request your money back. The product that they are selling is a product made to use on our site exclusively, yet it is against our rules. If they refuse to return your money, you might consider contacting your bank or credit card company to get your money back.

Too bad nobody I know has been blocked for using autos.  O0 :P ;)
