Apparently Java and Seamonkey are having issues:  Here is what he said.......

"Okay... just did some reading, and looks like Java and Seamonkey have some
issues.....People always seem to try things that aren't common...lol, and not everything
works well with things like that.....

So, my best bet would be for Pogo, use Firefox instead...."

Sorry Stinky one, it's the best I can do.  blowkisses.gif

Thank you, soooooooooooo much for checking for me. It's greately appreciated. I can use Firefox, I just got in the habit of using SeaMonkey.   embrace.gif

Hocky,

I went ahead and bit the bullit and did it and so far so good. No other copies are on the computer and I also set it to NOT look for updates.

Now, at the risk of seeming greedy (I'm sorry) what started all this was I was having a problem with Pogo. When I would load the page and try to go into a game, say Lottso, it would not load java, it would wait and wait and wait. Finally it would go to the screen that said Java Not Installed or Not Working. Then I would reload the page, start the game again and it would work fine. It was that way with IE, Mozilla SeaMonkey and Mozilla Firefox.

After following your instructions, when java was installing, it asked if I wanted to associate Mozilla and IE with this java and I chose YES. Now, Pogo games load perfectly on IE and Mozilla, but not SeaMonkey.  Can I BEG you to ask your amazing friend how I can associate SeaMonkey with this java so it will load the first time?

Oh also, it only happens on the first time I try to load after I turn on the computer. After that it loads fine, all day. But next morning when I turn it back on, it does that again.

Thanks again, so much. You're a doll!   embrace.gif

Thank you both, Swamp and Hocky. I soooo appreciate the advice. In fact, the version of Java I am presently using on XP is 5.0 update 11. I am saving the link and going to try it this week.

I'm so nervous about uninstalling all Java and then not being able to get anything to work :(

Thanks again... this might just be what I need in this case.

I was told from a very reliable puter tech person that I know who says Sun Java version 5.0.13 is the BEST and most stable java for folks with XP.  In order to get it to work properly, you must do the following:

1.  Uninstall all versions of java you have

2.  Reboot your computer

3.  Go to Sun Java website http://java.sun.com/products/archive/ find 5.0 drop down box and click on update 13

4.  Download and install this version

5.  Go to control Panel/Java and turn off auto updater for java or it will try to update to the latest version that is out there

For vista users:  Use Java version  6.07  (that's version 6 update 7)

Thanks, Tamara. But yes, I had installed, rebooted and it didn't work.  I'm afraid to delete all the old versions and then be stuck with one that isn't working at all.
i deleted java. did a prefetch. and cleaned my cookies out and im fine now stinky mf  embrace.gif  i`am just saying   giggle2.gif

Other than doing a system restore and bring your computer back to yesterday's or the day befores date, I don't really know. If you do a system restore, everything (meaning ALL the updated versions of Java that you uninstalled earlier should come back) and hopefully all will be ok again.
Maybe Homer or Mayhem will be back around soon so he can help you with more info.

Hi Stinker,
I'm thinking then maybe that's why you are having a problem with it freezing is because you would need to uninstall ALL old versions as Homer suggested, then reboot and reinstall the newest version. You can always try it and if it still doesn't seem to work, you could always do a system restore and 'take it back' to a couple of days earlier. But when I uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled, I have had no problems.
Just thought I would suggest the system restore IF the reinstall doesn't work.
Take care,
Tammy

The icon in the tray (of the version that works) is the coffee cup with steam. When I update, the icon becomes the white background with a coffee cup with steam. It's tha update (white background with cup) that freezes SeaMonkey and Mozilla and will not load at all in IE.

I did uninstall all the earlier versions and it didn't help.

Any ideas, anyone?

Hiya Stinker,
Did you reboot after you uninstalled? What I did was uninstalled, rebooted and then reinstalled the newest Java via the link Homer added and I'm having no problems.
I hope you get the problem resolved hun,
Tammy

On my desktop, the newest download won't work. It totally freezes up SeaMonkey and IE keeps giving me the java not installed or working properly message. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, etc.

And I also have several old versions.
