Title: Sherlock
Post by: Runner on March 07, 2007, 07:25:21 AM
As many of you know Sherlock has been the biggest piece of crap ever for me.

Yesterday I downloaded the newest version and figured , wth I will give it a try.

To my fricken amazement it didn't get hung up, or stop after one puzzle.

BH THIS AUTO KICKS ASS!!

GREAT JOB!

Now I need to turn it off for a while, as in my excitement I let it do _ cases yesterday.

I am sure I could have done all of them if I had the time to stay home and move it after 3 cases.

great job

I know I read in BH section, that this auto now plays on the hard level. But is it ONLY suppose to run on hard level? My auto only works on the hard level. Is that the way it was made? Or do I need to get it fixed?

Ms. B, I had to slow my click speed down to the lowest setting to keep it working.  On the default setting it was not completing puzzles.  It would either clear all pieces then want to start a new puzzle or it would complete all of it except 1 or 2 pieces then start over.

By putting the click speed on the lowest setting it has resolved the majority of the problems.  Still once in a while it will leave one piece and start over but I would say about 80 % of the time it completes the puzzle.  I play on medium or hard and it seems to do best.

Just something you may want to try.

I hope the update won't take long. I downloaded it yesterday and it just sits there doing nothing. :(

As an aside, I saw mention of another program called Jigsaw Detector. Is it another separate cheat or an older version of Sherlock?

It's a different program.

I ran Sherlock yesterday without a problem.

Are you using 3.8?

Yes, I deleted, rebooted and re-downloaded. Still was doing the same thing. Would solve the first puzzle, then would keep hitting new game on the next puzzles. I submitted a TSR but apparently they send out the same email to me and everyone else. I saw someone else's response that she got for Bonuscheck. So I am not holding my breath to get an answer.

So Homer what should I do? I am just getting aggravated that mostly all my autos have some sort of problem with them. If urs is working then most likely BH's is too. Which means I will probably not get a response back. I just think it is a little messed up that we pay for something and it doesnt work.

The only thing I did different was close the feedreader.

LOL At least you know why it wasn't working now.

Sometimes background programs can interfere with a programs performance.

My Sherlock is not working either. I don't get any error messages, it just sits and does nothing. I've reset, restarted, turned off the ticker, lowered the click speed...I can't think of anything else to do.

Wasn't there another program at one point?

Sherlock is version 3.8 and you can get it at http://jackpotspin.com/jigsaw/Sherlock.exe

Jigsaw Detector is version 6.4 and you can get it at http://tokenwinner.com/jigsaw/JigsawDetector.exe

Only Sherlock works on the Hard setting.

Ok, tonight I have been running sherlock 3.8. it tells me several times"can't solve this puzzle, please escuse me" then it just sits there, also when it does finish a case, it will not go on to the next one without me clicking on the new case.  Even when 1 left of the orig. three. Is this one you have to babysit?

I did try the other program and it did nothing.

thanks

Bugger. I feel better knowing I am not the only one having trouble with Sherlock but if I download and register JD it won't help me get some of my badges as they require puzzles being solved on hard setting.

TSR seems to be the only way to go I guess. :(

What you can do for the badge is let the auto finish most of the puzzle on Medium. When there are only a couple pieces left to place stop the auto and switch the puzzle difficulty to Hard and manually place the last couple peices to get the badge.

See thats what I thought. The auto does not work on anything but Hard level. If I set it to anything other than hard, it will just sit there. I just thought that was the way it was made. As for mine, it does not select a new case after it has solved one, so I have to babysit.

That's weird I've tested mine twice and it works fine. Are you sure you have smooth edges turned off?

Well I thought I had done that before, but I guess not. I did fix it. But now it only works on medium and hard. I set it to easy and it just sits there. Says in the message box "Found game window.....please wait." and then doesnt do anything.

That didn't work  :(

I did what you said, in the order you said to do it. When I changed the difficulty level of the puzzle it ended my game and started over. No pieces in place. It started from scratch again.
