Title: F18 Crashed in San Diego
Post by: disneyland lady on December 09, 2008, 10:01:43 AM
This happened a block and a half from my house and my mother lives 3 blocks the other way so it was quite traumatic. My Grandson got shots off his cell phone of the pilot parachuting out over the high school. Because it was military they just saturated the area and it took 3 hours to get my grandson home from his usual 10 min commute. Here is a shot right after it happened from out my front door and the other shot is my son who is a medical examiner for the city. I got that one off tv and was not happy to see him at ground zero cuz I could smell the jet fuel. Years ago in the 70s there was another jet that crashed in the neighborhood but it had ordinance on board because of the Vietnam war and THAT was a lot more stressful.

I heard this morning that a boy from the highschool is missing and somehow they think it's related.  Any word on that?

My son says that there is a toddler still missing. My teen grandson wanted to take the day off and tried to tell me that the teachers said it was okay but I called the school. The school is earthquake proof and a lot safer than any of the homes around here. I don't want to wake my son up cuz he does not go to the Medical Examiners office til 11am but I am waiting for him to wake so I can show him his pic and I will ask about the missing kid.

I will tell you that I felt extremely bad when I discovered I grabbed my purse, my camera and book 4 in the Twilight series leaving every valuable item in my house when we were evacuated........or did I have my priorities right? Since I could not go back home for 3 hours we went to Hot Topic and I finally bought MYSELF a tshirt - the Cullen Crest - so that only those in the know would know an ancient woman was wearing a Twilight shirt. After all.....we were teens together! And yes, I took yet one more thread and made it about Twilight.

Glad to hear everyone is ok, and hope they find the toddler soon. Stuff like this is a shame.

I lost this story to f/u.  Did they ever find the toddler?

My son was the one who found the toddler near a doorway. I do not know how he does the job but he loves what he does.

Thank goodness.  You must be so proud to have such a giving son.  I love hospital/rescue/etc. workers who do for others.  They are special people.
