We have the very awesome Help With Badges/Challenges (http://www.pogocheats.net/forum/index.php/topic,22341.0.html) thread where people can go to ask for help getting their badges, but it's pretty long and disorganized. In fact, trying to find game specific information about the best way to get ranked out or earn challenge badges in that thread is nearly impossible. With this in mind, I asked Mayhem what he thought about having a thread where people can share with everyone else the settings, levels, and strategies they use for getting their badges, and he agreed that it was a good idea.
So what we'll do is, as people share their tips, the first post will be updated and listed (by game) to include that information so it'll always be easy to find.
Here we go!
Anagrams
For challenges requiring you spell x number of 6-letter words, Inky recommends the following:
Challenge Mode> Boarding Challenge> Level 39 which contains 7 6-letter words
Bejeweled Stars
For most challenges, focus on creating special gems, but don't use them right away. Eventually, during regular game play, the special gems will be detonated and will then clear away many more gems using fewer moves. Also, be sure to experiment matching hypercubes with with each other or other special gems, and matching 2 special gems of different or the same kinds for extra impact. Level 2 is a fantastic level to practice on. See The s1lentOne's link below for more information.
Mayhem provided the following information:
Flame Gem: Match 4 Gems in a line or a square.
Flame gems explode when matched, destroying themselves along with all eight surrounding gems.
If the objective is for flame gems, level 11 is fairly easy for cubes and then flame gems, which, when put together, will make all that gem color become flame gems.
Star Gem: Match 5 Gems in a T or L shape.
When matched, Star gems destroy all gems along vertical and horizontal lines from their own position.
Hypercube: Match 5 Gems in a row.
You can match Hypercubes to any adjacent gem regardless of color to destroy all gems of that color on the board. This is a great way to detonate other Special Gems or collect SkyGems that are not near any sets of their own color.
Dark Sphere: Match 6 or more Gems in a row.
When you swap a Dark Hypercube, it changes all of the Gems of the swapped color to Hypercubes.
Butterflies: For challenges requiring the dispatching of butterflies.
Inky shared that Level 18 is pretty good for butterfly challenges in Bejeweled Stars: 20 butterflies per game which go fairly quickly.
LittleFawn made these suggestions for Butterflies:
level 19 (you get 14)
level 24 (30)
level 27 (35)
level 61 (55)
level 129 (50)
The s1lentOne provided us with some fantastic information for ranking out and LittleFawn points out that it's a great way of earning coins quickly. Click on this link to be taken to his post. https://www.pogocheats.net/forum/index.php/topic,50762.msg674855.html#msg674855
Cookie Connect
Make X number of stars: In a game room they were saying that stars are made when you end a cookie streak diagonally.
Cookie Connect Stars and Arrows or Serve X number of customers Badges Glitch
Step 1:
Play on level 9 but don't win the level - lose on purpose.
Step 2:
When it asks you if you want to buy more moves, click 'no'.
Step 3:
Wait until the next screen pops up and shows your total (x/150) - make a note of what it says and click on "Continue Game".
Step 4:
When it asks you if you want to try again, click the X in the upper right corner.
It will now show you your total screen again and this time will be double. Thanks, Mayhem and CM!
First Class Solitaire
Pogo has update FCS so the following may or may not work:
Win x number of games in a row: According to CrazyMan and Disneyland Lady, once you win the first game, if you see the next game (or 2) isn't going to win, just close the window and go back into the same room and play again. You won't lose credit for the games you've won.
Jet Set Solitaire
Seatbelt Cards : First Trip, go to the 12th location (Kilimanjaro). The airport level has 9 seatbelt cards available.
Garden Blast
When using the standard color scheme, each icon will be displayed in the following colors:
Sun - Yellow
Clover - Blue
Leaf - Green
Tulip - Orange
5 petal flower - Red
8 Petal Flower - Purple
Peggle Blast
This is a great "in general" tip: If you have the time (about 5-10 minutes/day) play the daily. Get two spins to win Power-Ups. It will make these challenges. The fireball is very effective. Additionally, you will get chances to use other "Players"...Buddy is very useful.
Thank you, S1lent!!
Clear x number of pegs: Level 8 is great because it usually only take one shot to clear the board, making it a quick way to clear pegs.
For challenge objectives such as detonating x number of bombs:
Orange Pegs - Level 4 - 32 orange pegs
Bombs – Level 64 – 6 bombs
Gems – Level 84 – 20 gems
Pinatas – Level 91 – 8 pinatas
Warp Holes – Level 136 – 4 portals
Eggs – Level 171 – 24 eggs
Gnomes – Level 182 – 12 gnomes
Pop Frogs – Level 194 – 14 frogs
Purple pegs show up in several levels different levels but there are never a lot of them. Try level 8 as s1lent suggested because it's a quick level to complete so your best chance for faster progress.
To complete multiple objectives try the following levels
Bombs and Gnomes – Level 64 – 5 each
Gems and Pinatas – Level 28 – 5 gems and 2 pinatas
Eggs and Pinatas – Level 81 – 7 each
Spiders and Gems - Level 113 – 2 spiders, 8 gems
Gems and Gnomes - Level 122 - 7 gems, 5 gnomes
Spiders and Warp Holes - Level 129 - 2 spiders, 2 portals
Spiders and Pinatas - Level 130 - 1 spider, 5 pinatas
Frogs and Gnomes - Level 140 - 9 frogs, 3 gnomes
Gnomes and Frogs - Level 151 - 5 gnomes, 3 frogs
Thanks to Squiddly and the The s1lentOne!
Poppit
For challenges requiring you collect/use x number of power-ups: Keep clicking "new game" until you see a board with 1 or 2 stars. Those are the power-up prizes.
Poppit Party
All challenges and rank advancement: See the bottom of this post for helpful information regarding "wash" times and Power-ups. A HUGE thank you to Squiddly for putting this all together!!!
Sweet Tooth Town
Most challenges: This is another "match 3" game. In this game, like in Bejeweled Stars, you can mix and match the power-up candies, and can even match only 2 of them. For example, you can mix and match by matching a mouth power-up with a striped candy power-up, or stripes with any color cordial candy, etc. This can be a huge help on challenges that require x number of moves to complete.
Chocolate Level 2 is great for the Jelly Bomb Challenge
Cupcake, level 120 is good for candy swirls
Chocolate, level 4 is good for reds
Chocolate, level 2 is good for when going for high scoring games (points)
Cupcake, first few levels for when going for 3 stars quickly and consistently.
Bakery, level 12 is good for grape/purple candies.
Again, this thread is not meant to replace the Help With Badges/Challenges (http://www.pogocheats.net/forum/index.php/topic,22341.0.html) thread! This thread is an information sharing thread only!

MAHJONG ESCAPE
I did the badge where the objective is to get a bunch of timed levels and China 5 did the trick, winning almost every game. Hope this helps!
Anyone else as dumb as me and been playing the No-Limit tournaments trying to get jackpot spins for this week's badge? If so, you can play the Limit games and you only need to win 4 hands to get a JPS, not win the tournament. low blow.gif
I must admit... I started in the No-Limit rooms and soon discovered my error. I switched over and had the badge fairly quickly. I'm not sure why the No Limit rooms didn't give credit; I won lots of hands. Live and Learn.

Sheesh, I have lived almost 70 decades so I am pretty sure that the learning part better be sooner than later.

You only get credit in the no limit rooms if you win the whole tournament. Otherwise, no JPS.

Any tips on the Monopoly slots badge? Is it just dumb luck? I played for an hour and a half yesterday by hand and didn't get a single landing on Community Chest. *sigh*

I know someone who played for 9 hours and didn't get a single one. I got one in 5 minutes. It's all luck of the roll (when you get them).

Choose 1 line instead of all lines. It limits your chances of winning and thus less animations.

What's the best level to use to get the multi-colored hair dos on Makeup Madness?
According to another site, the best way to rank in Monopoly Slots is to play just 1 line because you're significantly cutting down on the winning animations, getting more spins per minute, therefore more dice as well - and dice don't have to be on winning lines to count. I tried it and it works.
They admit you'll not win as many tokens, but if fast ranking is what you're looking for, this is the way to go.
Just a reminder that Squid reported China 5 did the best job of completing X number of timed levels, which is one of this week's challenges. Let us know how that goes for you!

Good reminder, Stinky. It worked well for me.
Also, in Monkey Gems: if you're using BW's auto, it only plays the first level. If you play a couple of levels by hand, you get to the all fruit level and I think those fruit count towards the goal. My numbers jumped after that round.
** correction ** On a second go-round, the fruit level didn't seem to help with the numbers.
I'm helping get badges for 3 other people and they have not kept up with Escape................so I found that using Japan level 5 works. It was available to them. tumbsup.gif
BW recommends playing Rio de Janeiro level 5 and check the repeat option in their auto......it just keeps on going and going and going....
Thanks, Yoming! China is moving slow, so I'll try Rio.
Easiest way to get the Monkey Gems Fruits is to get your snake down to two gems of same color and just sit and wait for the fruits to pop up and then hit them and make sure to clear those gems right at the end of the vine. Then just end game and start the round over.

For the Space Hunt Challenge in the new Mother's Day PBA 'Finish a game with 10000 points or more 30 times in 2 weeks!' you need to get at least 10,000 points but less then 20,000 points then you can click the X in upper right to submit your score. If you get more than 19,999 points it will not count.

Level 6 in Bloons will give you 10 darts per game. The levels where you start with one dart but that one dart will unlock many other darts, will still only count as one dart. Start in a level, like 6, with the most original darts.

Mthornton - it's nice of you to ask but most players in need of help will reach out to those who have been here a while and who have more than one post to their ranking. Stick around and get to know the group a bit ... all in good time.
Also, there is a thread dedicated to helping with badges and challenges.
I thought it might be nice to revitalize this thread, which can be very useful.

Updated with the last 2 posts. Let me know if I've missed any.
I read on Pogo Forum for Bejeweled 3 that starting a game on any other tab but CHALLENGES is the way to go. If you click on the CHALLENGES tab to activate any badges, click off that tab and onto either CHAT ROOMS or FORUM or HOW TO PLAY. The reason for this is that some people are having memory issues when playing the game and somehow the highlighted tab is involved. I don't know if this is true or even possible but it's worth clicking to another tab to stay on the safe side.

Thanks, hon, you left off one of the charts and you might want to post that clicking the images will enlarge them. Once you've done that, I'll ask Mayhem to delete this post.
How's it now? I clicked on each image to enlarge it before saving it, and I believe there were 4 images, is that right? They look to be the same size as before, but clicking on them does enlarge them in my post.
Thanks for all your hard work putting this together!

It looks perfect, mon cherie. I hope it's helpful. I found the chart for power ups especially helpful. In time, I will add CLUE episodes to the flashlight/fogcutter/NightVision lists by modifying the post and will let you know when I do. There are lots of challenges that require you to finish episodes with one or the other and I'm tired of hunting for them! LOL
THanks for all your help heart1.gif

I've used the charts, too, frequently. When you're OCD like

Solitaire Gardens:
For me, English Garden 1, level 6, works best for multiplier card challenges. That level is such an easy win.
BIG CITY ADVENTURE. I was away (in and back) for most of the week but did activate Gateway to Fun week 2 Surprise badge before I left. Now that I'm back and we're into week 3, I don't see week 2 Gateway to Fun Badge. After re-clicking Activate, it takes me into Big City's list of games but I'm not able to find it now. Do they delete them when the time has passed?

The page doesn't say anything about it expiring. Did you go to your most recent MnM badge book and look for Big City Adventure Badges? It's probably in there.

Yes, it's there and activated. But when it takes me to Big City it's not listed there and prompts me to choose/buy. I wasn't home most of last week, strange... what am I doing wrong? I was here to do this weeks Tri Peaks .. no big deal with that one. I activated it and it took me straight to Trip Peaks and it's done. Not sure how to find it in Big City - maybe I activated the wrong one, is Gateway to Fun the wrong listing maybe?
Ok, to get the Big City Adventure surprise badge, you just have to play ANY 21 levels in the game, then you will win the badge. It isn't an episode, it's a challenge in which you can choose the episode. Each of the 21 levels must be won with 1000 points accumulated.

China 14----6 lock/keys
Try China 14.....it has 6 lock/keys and pretty easy to do without the auto...........my tip----I don't do all the locks at one time.....I get as many matches as I can and undo 2 or 3 of the locks then continue with the matches.
Some of the people I help have not reached level 28 in China,,,but 14 is a good one. tumbsup.gif

I saw this posted in the Pogo Forum and tried it. It works great!
Hey, Stinky!
I have some updates:
1. Byzantine 20 is a great level for both timed puzzles and for Lock/key (4) in Mahjong Escape. You are almost assured of a quick win each time.
2. You can delete the tiny pics above - they don't really apply anymore as there have been changes and updates. I can transfer the pics to another image doohickey if you like.
Here's a glitch I found when activating 2 M&M's for same game. If they are close enough to each other as in below image, quickly click Activate on both of them and you see the spinner until they are activated. It has worked twice for me so far.

Update to add Peggle Blast: Orange Pegs – Level 4 – 32 orange pegs
This morning I was playing around with the daily challenge for Sweet Tooth Town and discovered that you can mix and match the special power-up candies even if the colors don't match, and even if it doesn't create a line-up of 3. So I'd match a red mouth with a purple candy with stripes and both power-ups activated. I had no idea. I had never tried it before. I'm thinking this will come in handy for some of those in-game special challenges where you have to win x number of levels in a row.
i think I stumbled upon this in the past but it happened so quickly, I wasn't sure what I matched up.

Those challenges usually goes so quickly, except that special challenge that they do every once in a while. This will come in handy. But with this, like with bejeweled stars, I always forget that I can make a flame by matching for to make a square. I need to work on that.

I'd like to enlist everyone's help in creating a list of games that give you credit towards completing a challenge even if you don't win the game. For example:
Stack'em gave credit for 20 pink pigs even though I lost the game. (I lost on purpose to see if it would, and it did.)
Quinn's Aquarium requires a win to count towards progress in a challenge.

That's so funny, I did the same thing in Stack'Em this morning.
Off the top of my head:
TriPeaks Solitaire: Don't need to win to get peak credit.
Mahjong Safari: a recent challenge of getting STAR tiles didn't require me to win when I hit an impasse in the game.
Canasta: win is not necessary but getting to the end of the hand usually is.
Peggle Blast: If you don't win the level, you'll still get credit for orange pegs/purple pegs.
Can someone explain to me when or why, when playing Snowbird Solitaire, would I use the fan power up to extend the streak?
That's a good question! I never used one.
I don't use P/U's in that game
I don't use PUs either. I was just curious.
I used one, and where it would come in handy is when we have an event.
Not to extend a streak, but when you're low on cards and you are trying to get the last gold card.

Greetings,
Here is a tip for Snowbird Solitaire. When you have a Challenge that requires you to win multiple games, instead of just playing the next level...return to "BACK TO MAP" and select another part of the resort. Just keeping levels you are able to handle...of course you will have needed to complete at least one part.
Hope this helps,

Scrabble "Rack" Method for Efficient Word Formation
Introduction:
Playing Scrabble is a game of strategy, word knowledge, and, importantly, how efficiently you manage your letter rack. Most casual players haphazardly arrange their tiles, which can lead to missed opportunities or slower word formation. Over seven years, I have refined a "rack method" for arranging Scrabble tiles that helps boost focus, speed, and accuracy, ultimately improving your win rate and score. I play daily against bots on Pogo Scrabble, winning 8 out of 10 games consistently with this method.
Why a Rack Arrangement Method Matters:
1. Enhanced Focus:
- Organizing your tiles logically eliminates the need to repeatedly check each letter.
- You reduce cognitive load by having predictable placements for certain high-importance letters like "Q" and "U."
- Without scrambling the rack, you develop a natural habit of seeing word opportunities faster.
2. Improved Efficiency:
- With a consistent system, you save time by quickly spotting word patterns and combinations.
- You're able to see high-scoring word potentials by grouping related consonants (e.g., "CH," "TH") or pairing high-value letters.
3. Higher Winning Consistency:
- With efficient word formation, you maximize points and create stronger board positions.
- By managing your tiles, you can better prepare for future moves, increasing your chance to win repeatedly.
The "Rack" Method Explained:
1. Placement of "Q" and "U":
- Rule 1: Always place the "Q" on the far left of your rack. If you have a "U," it must go immediately to the right of the "Q."
- Purpose: This setup immediately tells you if "Qu" words are an option, so you don't need to hunt for the "U." Since "Q" without "U" is rare, this rule saves you significant time.
2. Consonant-Vowel Separation:
- Rule 2: Keep all consonants on the left and all vowels on the right.
- Purpose: This visual separation aids in identifying possible consonant-vowel combinations, facilitating word formation. Vowels become quickly accessible to extend words or form new ones.
3. Placement of the "S" and Blank Tiles:
- Rule 3: The "S" always goes between the consonants and vowels. Blanks are placed to the right of the "S" and to the immediate left of the vowels.
- Purpose: Placing the "S" between consonants and vowels makes it easier to form plurals or extensions. Keeping blanks to the right of the "S" helps maintain visual clarity and keeps your rack uncluttered for faster word formation.
4. Swapping Out Letters for a Blank:
- Whenever a blank becomes available (as on Pogo, where a swap-out eligible lights up), you should swap it for low-value letters, such as those with a value of 1 or 2.
- However, in some instances, it may be necessary to sacrifice a high-value tile to construct a high-scoring word. Swapping out a letter for a blank reduces rack clutter and gives you more opportunities to construct higher-scoring words. The value gained by doing this outweighs losing a point or two.
5. Group Duplicates:
- Rule 4: If you have multiple instances of the same letter (e.g., "T" or "S"), group them together.
- Purpose: This helps you easily spot potential plural formations or consonant blends, like "ST" or "SS."
6. Score Maximization by Letter Placement:
- Rule 5: For consonants, place higher-scoring letters (e.g., "Z," "X," "J") closer to the left.
- Purpose: These letters offer high-point opportunities when placed on premium squares (Double or Triple Letter/Word scores). Keeping them accessible ensures they don't get overlooked.
7. Letter Pairing for Common Combinations:
- Rule 6: Over time, you may find certain letters, such as "CH," "SH," "DR," are useful pairs. Place these consonants together.
- Purpose: By anticipating common letter pairings, you can quickly form longer, higher-scoring words like "Arch" or "Driven."
Benefits of Using the Rack Method:
- Increased Word Awareness:
With a consistent method, you naturally start to see word possibilities in your rack. Your mind isn't distracted by chaos but focuses on combinations, making word discovery faster.
- Strategic Advantage:
By placing high-value letters in accessible spots, you're able to maximize your score opportunities. You're also preparing for future turns by having quick access to common consonant-vowel pairings.
- Consistency in Wins:
This method isn't just a theory—it has been used successfully for years. By playing with focus and a systematic approach, I've consistently beaten Pogo Scrabble bots in most of my games.
Conclusion:
The Scrabble "rack method" is more than just organizing letters; it's a strategy to maximize your game performance. By methodically arranging your rack—starting with the "Q" and "U," separating consonants and vowels, placing the "S" and blanks strategically, and keeping high-value letters accessible—you'll enhance your focus, reduce missed opportunities, and increase your winning percentage.
