If your looking for high speed internet service there are 2 basic kinds. Cable and DSL. I have no idea what you mean by 20 mins away from a city. ???

I really don't think that would make a difference. Don't you already have DSL if I remember correctly?

If you do call them up and tell them you are getting frequent disconnects. It might be a simple fix. :)

OK, I'm lost, You said "When Someone's on my phone", then said it usually does it without being on the phone..Which is it? lol.

& call them & tell them, that may be an easy fix for the tech support.

There are satellite isp's but they are very expensive and can be unreliable as well. We used one for my hubby's laptop when we traveling and it cost us out the yinyang. we now use cable (roadrunner through time warner cable) and it's amazingly fast and we never have problems. It too is costly, but not as bad as satellite. I would check into cable if you are having dsl issues.

You are experiencing disconnects with DSL because someone at the CO decided to configure your voice and data on the same stream.  Please contact your DSL provider Technical Support-this is common happening in a DSL environment and it's a quick fix as well.....Technical Support will create a Trouble Ticket(Work Order) and contact the CO to verify the specs of what should be configured at the DSLAM compared to what actually is. Try to have Technical Support make the contact with the CO while you are on the phone with them.  If you're not familiar with the technical terms, I'll explain at a later time.  What will be most important is that when the Work Order is complete you will want to verify that with whoever calls you, or who you are speaking with at Technical Support.  Also, if you have a Cell Phone it would be extremely beneficial if you contact Technical Support that way, instead of using your landline.  Please post your results from your contact here so I can assist further.
